The University of Texas at San Antonio offers access and opportunity for more than 29,100 students. UTSA provides a world-class education. Students come from all 50 states and more than 90 countries and choose from 133 undergraduate and graduate degree programs. Among UTSA’s 64 bachelor’s degrees, those in liberal arts and business are the most popular. The university also is known for its strong science, engineering, computer security, and architecture programs.
UTSA is on the road to becoming a tier-one research university. The Biotechnology, Sciences and Engineering Building is one of the largest and most sophisticated science facilities at any Texas university. Collaborations with the UT Health Science Center at San Antonio, the Southwest Foundation for Biomedical Research, and related private and public institutions enhance UTSA’s research, teaching, and service missions. UTSA is the fifth-largest public university in Texas and the second largest university in the UT System. The Main Campus is on the north side of San Antonio. UTSA also has two locations in the heart of the city—the Downtown Campus and the HemisFair Park campus, home to The Institute of Texan Cultures, which is designated the state’s center for multicultural education. Campus life is a priority at UTSA. Four residence complexes accommodate approximately 3,700 students on campus. Many additional private apartments are adjacent to the Main Campus and provide housing for about 5,000 students. A recently expanded University Center hosts student activities and more than 200 student organizations. The Recreation and Wellness Center includes upgraded amenities such as an expanded pool and the tallest college climbing wall in Texas.UTSA is a NCAA Division I school with 16 sports in men’s and women’s divisions. Roadrunner teams compete in basketball, soccer, baseball, softball, and track and field, among others. With new head coach Larry Coker at the helm of UTSA’s first football program, excitement is building for kickoff in fall 2011.
