Lone Star College System consists of five comprehensive community colleges and five satellite learning centers located in north Harris County and across Montgomery County. With a fall enrollment of more than 51,000 students, LSCS is the third largest community college system in Texas and the largest higher education institution in the greater Houston area.
The system is well known for its beautiful colleges—LSC-CyFair, LSC-Kingwood,
LSC-Montgomery, LSC-North Harris, LSC-Tomball. Each provides an excellent learning
environment and serves as a cultural magnet for its community. Businesses and
community organizations appreciate the up-to-date facilities throughout the
district and the availability of high tech training and conferencing capabilities
at the Central Services and Training Center and LSC-University Center.
Each Lone Star College offers flexible scheduling, small classes, outstanding
faculty and affordable tuition. All offer a comprehensive curriculum of associate
degree programs, technical training and certification, university transfer courses,
continuing education, developmental studies and literacy programs. Lone Star
Online is the system’s distance learning “campus,” known for
instructors who are both highly credentialed in their subject and certified
in online instruction.
The system’s strength in workforce, economic and community development
is demonstrated through programs specifically created to meet the needs of area
businesses and schools. The system’s newest initiative is Lone Star Corporate
College, which places the system’s full employee training capacity into
a single one-stop center. Corporate College offers customized programs and classes
at either the employer’s worksite or any of the system’s convenient
locations.
LSC-University Center is a partnership between the system and six university
to offer more than 50 bachelors and master’s degree programs. University
partners include Sam Houston State University, University of Houston-Downtown,
University of Houston, Prairie View A&M, and Texas Southern University.
