Michigan Secretary of State office holds college voter tour

DETROIT (AP) — The office of Michigan Secretary of State Ruth Johnson is kicking off a tour of 18 college campuses across the state to register students to vote.

The Republican says in a statement that the 3,000-mile "2016 Voter Registration Drive" by the Mobile Office offers access to services including voter registration. Officials will be on hand to answer other questions as well. The tour starts Wednesday at Wayne State University in Detroit.

A stop is planned Thursday at University of Michigan's Dearborn campus. Additional stops including Michigan State University and the University of Michigan are posted online. The deadline to register to vote for the Nov. 8 general election is Oct. 11, the day the tour concludes.
