First-Year Students To Receive $500 Scholarships For Each Year Of Active Participation In 4-H

DURHAM, N.H. (AP) — Students who have participated in 4-H programs have a new reason to attend the University of New Hampshire.

Starting next fall, first-year students will receive $500 scholarships for each year of active participation in 4-H, with a maximum annual scholarship of $5,000.

The 4-H programs, perhaps most well known for their connection to agriculture, emphasize citizenship, healthy living and science. UNH President James Dean says the new scholarship is an ideal match between the state's flagship public university and 4-H, which has been the university's largest and oldest youth development program for more than 100 years.
