Cal State LA Awarded $1M Grant To Enhance Diversity [Education News]

California State University, Los Angeles (Cal State LA) has been awarded a $1 million grant from the Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI) to enhance diversity and inclusion for California students in science. The grant is slated to start the Science Faculty for Inclusive Excellence and Transformation project to support students from historically underrepresented communities who are first generations and are working adults with families.

California State University, Los Angeles (Cal State LA) has been awarded a $1 million grant from the Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI) to enhance diversity and inclusion for California students in science.

Cal State LA’s grant is slated to start the Science Faculty for Inclusive Excellence and Transformation project to support students from historically underrepresented communities who are first-generations and are working adults with families.

The grant is to be used to train faculty to improve engagement with students from all backgrounds that study science. The project is designed to transform the learning environment, allowing for a broad mix of students to enrich the sciences with their diverse perspectives.
