Families can enjoy a grounds pass, free admission for military service members, afternoon tea and more!

UNION, N.J. –– As the school year draws to a close and people of all ages look for summer escapes, Liberty Hall Museum at Kean University offers relaxing days in the gardens, free admission for military service members and afternoon teas.

Kicking off the summer is Liberty Hall's signature Wednesday Afternoon Tea from 2-4 p.m. on June 8 and 22. In the grand tradition of Mary Alice Kean, the last lady of the house, the popular tea service includes a scrumptious selection of scones, assorted pastries, traditional finger sandwiches, and the freshest of fruit, as well as an intimate, guided tour of the museum.

Liberty Hall Museum members are invited to a free Summer Picnic in the Gardens on Saturday, June 11, from 12-2 p.m. Food and drink will be provided; bringing a blanket is encouraged but not required.

Afternoon Tea in the Gardens on Sunday, June 12, from 2–4 p.m., will feature a scrumptious selection of scones, assorted pastries, traditional finger sandwiches and fruit. As guests enjoy their afternoon tea, they’ll be treated to a talk about the history of the Liberty Hall gardens and gardening tips on the proper care of roses. Admission is $40 per person and includes a tour.

All month long, guests are invited to bring a picnic lunch and spend the afternoon wandering the grounds, admire the large variety of blooming flowers or enjoy a walk along our Serpentine Path. Grounds passes are available for $5 per person, $3 per child, and include full access to the 11-acre property. The Liberty Hall grounds are open Monday–Saturday, 10 a.m.–4 p.m.
