Before embarking on any career path, salary is an important factor to consider. This is not to say that money should be the only factor, but to ignore it entirely would be extremely foolish. So, with this in mind the question is how much do you make as a physician assistant?

Like many occupations, there are different types of jobs and places to work within one type of occupation, and the salary can vary based on those differences. We will explore this topic in greater detail in a moment, but first, let’s establish a basic number for physician assistants or PAs.
Despite salary differences, there are certain broader stroke numbers that can be taken into consideration. The website explains that the median wage for physician assistants in 2019 was $53.97/hour.
This number is very contingent on the specific work schedule of the physician assistant, however, the website does offer some idea of the number of hours a physician assistant will work in a week. We will be exploring that in greater detail below.
Physician assistants who work at outpatient care centers earned the most in May of 2019 with a median annual wage of $119,090.
“Most physician assistants work full time. Some work more than 40 hours per week. Physician assistants may work nights, weekends, or holidays. They may also be on call, meaning that they must be ready to respond to a work request with little notice.”
“The median annual wage for physician assistants was $112,260 in May 2019. The median wage is the wage at which half the workers in an occupation earned more than that amount and half earned less. The lowest 10 percent earned less than $72,720, and the highest 10 percent earned more than $157,120.”
“Fast” is a relative term, but permanent employment is key to securing a regular paycheck. According to the website:
“Physician assistant education includes classroom and laboratory instruction in subjects such as pathology, human anatomy, physiology, clinical medicine, pharmacology, physical diagnosis, and medical ethics. The programs also include supervised clinical training in several areas, including family medicine, internal medicine, emergency medicine, and pediatrics.
Sometimes students serve in one or more clinical rotations in these areas under the supervision of a physician who is looking to hire a physician assistant. In this way, clinical rotations may lead to permanent employment.”
