27 career authors, 10 career coaches provide grads 33 hours of live online career advice

TELLURIDE, Colo. -- There is a great deal of research that proves college graduates' transition into their first professional job is filled with challenges. According to research by the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE), it will take the average graduate 7.4 months to find employment.
Why is that?
It's partly because most grads just don't know how to look for a job! A study by the Career Advisory Board found that 77.4 percent of career center directors did not think their students understood the amount of effort they would need to expend to get a job. A second study by NACE showed how difficult it is to even get students to visit the career center. In that study NACE found that nearly 61 percent of graduating seniors either NEVER went to the career center, or only visited once, or twice.
Without the knowledge and the skills necessary to get a job, it's no wonder that graduates struggle during their first professional job search.
That is why 27 career authors, 10 career coaches, and 12 companies that provide innovative online career management and job search tools have come together to offer both employed and unemployed college graduates from the Class of 2017 the opportunity to participate in a 3-day ONLINE Grad CareerFestival scheduled for July 27th – 29th, from 11 am - 10 pm EDT. Graduates can participate in four tracks at www.gradcareerfestival.com:
- Career Management - On Thursday, July 27th, nine career authors will provide tips and strategies on how to build a career plan and manage one's career.
- Job Search - On Friday, July 28th, nine authors will provide advice on networking, building a "keyword-laden" resume, interviewing, branding, and the job search process.
- Post-Graduation Advice - On Saturday, July 29th, nine authors will provide graduates advice on refinancing student loans, managing finances, learning soft skills, and successful strategies on how to transition into their first professional job.
- Career Coaching - Each day from 8 pm – 10 pm EDT four certified career coaches will lead thought-provoking discussions to help grads find direction and meaning in their career choices.
According to Tony Beshara, President of Babich Associates, and author of a half a dozen job search books, who has personally placed 10,000 people in jobs over the past three decades, and one of the authors presenting in the Grad CareerFestival:
"Unemployed graduates are losing as much as $4,000 per month by not having a job. We want to reduce the time it takes graduates to find a job from 7.4 months to 5 months! That would be like giving each grad $10,000 in salary they can use to pay back their student loans, buy a car, move out on their own, or even contribute to their alma mater!"
