S. Teri Gomez
California State University, San Bernardino has appointed S. Terri Gomez as its new president. Gomez effective on Aug. 3. Since 2023, she has served as provost and vice president for Academic Affairs at Cal Poly Pomona— where her career began in 1999 as a faculty member in the Department of Ethnic and Women’s Studies. Over the years, Gomez climbed the ranks to full professor and department chair, eventually stepping into crucial leadership roles such as interim associate dean and associate provost for Student Success, Equity, and Innovation. A first-generation college student, Gomez began her academic journey at San Bernardino Valley College before transferring to UCLA, where she earned her bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees in political science.
Robin S. Hoopes
Robbin S. Hoopes has been named the president of Cincinnati State. Hoopes has served as the college’s provost and chief academic officer for the past 10 years. He led efforts to develop the College’s first bachelor’s degree programs, expand high-demand programs in areas including health care and aviation maintenance, increase transfer opportunities with area universities, secure major federal and state grants, and strengthen the College’s accreditation standing. He completed his bachelor’s degree in political science at the University of Akron in 1984, and he earned a Juris Doctor from the University of Cincinnati College of Law. Hoopes also holds a master’s degree in linguistics at Gallaudet University and a doctoral fellowship in sociolinguistics at Georgetown University.
