Beacon on the Hill Finds it Light

Financing March 2016 PREMIUM

Moreno Valley College is referred to as the Beacon on the Hill, signifying the College as the community’s educational beacon. Marking the celebration of the College’s 25th anniversary, All Star Signs of Escondido recently completed installation of an LED sign atop the Student Academic Services building that at night will illuminate MVC’s inter-locking logo. The sign, powered by a solar panel, cost $20,980.

Founded in 1991, the Moreno Valley campus became the California’s 111th community college in 2010. It was in October 1985 that the Robert C. Warmington Company, a Southern California-based developer, donated land worth over $5 million to the District and the City.

When construction on the new campus began, the City of Moreno Valley had a total population of 68,000. By contrast, in 2016, the City boasts a population of 202,459.

Moreno Valley College, a comprehensive liberal arts and sciences institution, offers one of the largest mixes of allied health and public safety programs in Southern California. The College is known for its highly regarded Dental Hygiene and Dental Assisting programs, which boast first-time national-licensing pass rates of 97-100 percent. And, at the nearby Ben Clark Public Safety Training Center, the College partners with local public agencies to train law enforcement officers, firefighters, paramedics, emergency medical technicians, correctional officers, emergency dispatchers, probation officers, and juvenile correctional counselors.
