Ex-Florida St. College at Jacksonville president sues board

Jacksonville, Fla. (AP) — The former president of Florida State College at Jacksonville has accused the school's board of failing to pay him money he says he was owed from a consulting contract.

Multiple media outlets report that Steve Wallace filed a lawsuit in state court last week, saying the board of trustees unlawfully terminated the contract after learning of a criminal investigation into Wallace's handing of college funds. A grand jury last year cleared him of criminal charges.

The board had given Wallace the 1-year consulting contract after accepting his resignation in 2012.

The lawsuit does not specify how much money Wallace is seeking.

The current president of the college, Cynthia Bioteau, said in a statement that the school will issue a formal response after it has reviewed the complaint.
