UNION, N.J. – For the eighth consecutive year, players from the Kean University football program have been named to the National Football Foundation Hampshire Honor Society & College Hall of Fame (NFF). Senior offensive linemen Mike D'Addario, economics major from Lacey Township, and Anthony Mangan, criminal justice major from Lawrenceville, were recognized as part of the 2016 NFF Hampshire Honor Society.
“Mike and Anthony continue the tradition that we have established within the Kean Athletics football program to not only develop outstanding athletes, but also quality students,” said Jack McKiernan, director of athletics at Kean University. “We are proud of our student-athletes for hitting the marks both on and off the field.”
NFF Hampshire Honor Society is comprised of college football players from all divisions of play who have maintained a cumulative 3.2 GPA (Grade Point Average) or better throughout their collegiate career. D'Addario and Mangan, both graduating seniors at Kean, have made significant contributions in their last year of eligibility and have met all NCAA-mandated (National Collegiate Athletic Association) progress toward degree requirements.
“It is a fantastic honor to be recognized by the NFF and an extraordinary honor to be recognized alongside my fellow offensive lineman and good friend, Mike,” said Mangan. “I am very fortunate for the amazing guidance I have received from my head coach, Dan Garrett, as well as my offensive line coach, David Galante. They’ve taught us to not only be great football players, but great men, on and off the field, and have never accepted anything but the best from every player.”
D'Addario expressed similar sentiments of pride for his and Mangan’s induction into the Hampshire Honor Society, as well as gratitude for the life lessons and character development he learned as a member of the Cougars’ football team. “Coach Garrett, Coach Galante and Coach John Liberato not only get the best of us on the field every day, but they constantly encourage each player to work hard in all areas––school, life and football––with the utmost effort and attention to the game and our teammates.”
D'Addario and Mangan are also members of Kean University’s chapter of Chi Alpha Sigma, the National College Athlete Honor Society.
