John Kasich has officially withdrawn from the race for the Republican Party’s presidential nominee.
Kasich announced yesterday that he is suspending his presidential campaign. With both he and Ted Cruz dropping out of the race, Donald Trump is now the likely Republican presidential nominee.
According to AP, Trump has a total of 1,053 delegates. The number of delegates needed for the Republican Party’s presidential nomination is 1,237.
On the Democratic Party's side, Hillary Clinton now has a combined total of 2,205 pledged delegates and superdelegates, and Sanders has a combined total of 1,401 pledged delegates and superdelegates. The combined total number of delegates and superdelegates needed for the Democratic Party's presidential nomination is 2,383.
The next round of presidential primaries is scheduled to take place on May 10.
