MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Police at the University of Minnesota have evacuated some guests from a campus hotel, saying they're negotiating a "situation" with a person in one of the hotel's rooms.
The school issued an alert early Monday about a "public safety situation" at the Graduate Minneapolis Hotel. The school said some roads around the campus were closed, as was a campus recreation and wellness center.
University Police Chief Matt Clark says officers have been talking to a man for some time, trying to convince him to come out. Clark says no one has been hurt. He declined to provide specifics about what led to the situation, what was being discussed or how many guests were evacuated.
Clark and university officials asked students, faculty and staff to avoid the east portion of campus.
