Riverside Community College District Trustee Mary Figueroa was elected to serve on the

Community College League of California’s (CCLC) California Community College Trustee (CCCT) board of directors. The CCCT board consists of 21 members representing more than 400 California community college trustees and 72 community college districts. This is Trustee Figueroa’s fourth election to the CCCT board.

CCCT is an organization of the nonprofit Community College League of California and takes positions on issues before the State Board of Governors and the legislature. Policy direction is also provided to staff and trustees concerning statewide educational policy, research initiatives, publications, workshops and conferences.

“It is indeed an honor to bring the voice of the Inland Region to the statewide board of community college leader,” said Figueroa, who has served on the RCCD Board of Trustees since 1995. “As a consistently growing region in the state and the nation, the Inland Region must remain at the forefront of higher education discussion and decisions."

During her more than 20 years as an RCCD trustee, Figueroa has served six terms as president of the Board of Trustees, as well as one term as vice president and four terms as secretary. As a trustee, her interests range from governance to student services to career technical program development to public safety.

Figueroa is active in civic and community organizations and currently serves on the South Coast Air Quality Management Control District Environmental Justice Advisory Group, is chair of the Eastside Think Tank, and a founding member of the Inland Empire Hispanic Leadership Council. Figueroa was also involved in the formation of the local Inland Valleys Trustees and CEO Association.
