Riverside Community College District Announces 2015-2016 Board Of Trustees Officers

The Riverside Community College District Board of Trustees elected 2015-16 officers and named an ambassador for the upcoming Silver/Centennial anniversaries.

The RCCD Board of Trustee officers for 2015-16 are:

Virginia Blumenthal – President

Nathan Miller – Vice President

Tracey Vackar – Secretary

Janet Green – Member

Mary Figueroa – Member

Blumenthal will continue to serve as Board president, a post she has held for four consecutive terms. Blumenthal has been an RCCD trustee since 2006 and is an alumna of RCC. She is also president of Blumenthal Law Offices in Riverside.

Miller was elected to serve as Board vice president. He has been an RCCD Board trustee since 2012 and previously served as the Board secretary.

Vackar, the newest member of the trustees, was elected in 2014 and will serve as Board secretary. She is a former Moreno Valley Unified School District trustee.

Green and Mary Figueroa will serve as members at large. Figueroa, who was elected to the Board in 1995, is currently the longest serving trustee. Green, who was elected in 2006, was asked to serve as the District’s Silver/Centennial ambassador. This year the Riverside Community College District is celebrating its centennial anniversary for RCC and 25 year anniversaries of Moreno Valley and Norco colleges. To respond to the importance of these anniversaries and the events and activities at the colleges and in the community. Green has a strong connection in the community. Her late husband, Cecil Green, was one of the first full-time faculty members at Riverside City College.

Burke, chancellor. “Each trustee is committed to achieving the RCCD vision of educational excellence by providing opportunities for learning, personal enrichment, innovation and community development.”

The role of the Board of Trustees is to establish policies to assure the quality, integrity, and effectiveness of the colleges’ programs and services as well as the financial stability of the District.
