Rutgers Receives Largest Scholarship Gift In University’s History
$10M Slated To Support Undergraduate Engineering Scholarships

Rutgers Alumnus Richard N. Weeks has made the largest scholarship gift to the university ever.

Weeks who graduated Rutgers in 1950 has committed $10 million to support undergraduate scholarships at the Rutgers School of Engineering helping them to pursue careers in the profession. This is not only the largest gift for the university’s scholarship but also for the school of engineering. The Richard N. Weeks Endowed Scholarship allows future generations of students to be leaders in advancing the field of engineering.

In 2017, Rutgers Hall of Distinguished Alumni recognized Weeks for his vital contributions in engineering and business. Weeks previously donated $6 million for the construction of The Richard N. Weeks Hall of Engineering that opened in September.

“With this exceptional gift, Mr. Weeks has demonstrated his belief in the power of education to change lives forever,” said Rutgers President Robert Barchi. “Endowed scholarships help students pursue their dreams while incurring less debt, and help Rutgers attract and retain the finest students to the university.”
