Police, correction, parole and probation officers to benefit
FAIRFIELD, Conn.Sacred Heart University is rolling out a new benefit for police, correction, parole and probation officers throughout the tri-state area: a 50 percent tuition reduction for those who enroll in SHUs masters in criminal justice (MACJ) program. This offer is a sizable expansion from the Universitys previous policy, which was limited to the Fairfield Police Department.

We are excited to extend this benefit to Bridgeport and Trumbull and officers throughout the tri-state. We hope this will provide an incentive for more officers serving in the larger community to pursue their next level of education, said SHU President John J. Petillo.
Patrick Morris, MACJ program director, said, As a retired police officer, I've always been an advocate for the continuing education of our criminal justice professionals. Their jobs have become increasingly challenging, and we welcome the opportunity to help them develop the skills to meet those challenges.
After 26 years in the Norwalk Police Department, Morris joined the SHU faculty in 2005 and is now giving back to the next generation of law enforcement professionals. I'm especially looking forward to our classroom discussions, he said. We all learn more when students bring in a diversity of experience and ideas. Sacred Heart University is making a strong statement about its commitment to public safety in offering this benefit.
Students in the MACJ program may take classes in the evening and online. Contact the Office of Graduate Admissions at 203-365-7619 or gradstudies@sacredheart.edu for more information.
