San Diego Latino Film Festival 2016: Call for International Poster Competition To Close October 1

SAN DIEGO -  Media Arts Center San Diego will close the call for entries for its international poster competition for the 23rd Annual San Diego Latino Film Festival on October 1. Graphic designers, photographers, and artists are encouraged to create and submit an iconic image that celebrates the vitality of Latino culture, the winner will win $1,000, sponsored by  Flavored Layers

Every year, the poster becomes the face of the festival, as its image is used for purposes including souvenir programs, foldout posters, postcards and t-shirts. The competition was started six years ago to engage artists and the community in the look of the Film Festival.

Last year, the contest received more than 70 entries from around the world, including Canada, Mexico, India and Argentina. Zoran Cardula, a graphic designer and artist based in Skopje, Macedonia, was named the winner.

The deadline to enter the poster competition is October 1, the first place winner will receive $1,000 and a strong presence at the Festival, which is attended by more than 20,000 people each year. The 10 finalists will receive two tickets to attend the SDLFF. The winner, selected by a jury of experts, will be announced before the end of the year.

Jury Members: Bob Green (The Roots Factory, San Diego), Ruben Torres (San Diego Community Leader), Lucy Roberts (Owner, HMC Advertising), Patricia Cue (SDSU Professor of Graphic Design), David Gutierrez (Flavored Layers) and Alessandra Moctezuma (Gallery Director, Fine Arts Professor at SDSU).
The San Diego Latino Film Festival will hold its 23rd edition from March 10-20, 2016. Each year, the Festival screens more than 150 films from Latin America, Spain, U.S.A, Mexico and other parts of the world in celebration of Latino film, art, and culture. The event also features Arte Latino exhibits, musical performances, after parties, filmmaker workshops and guest Latino celebrities from the hottest TV shows and feature films.
