Marshall University is launching a joint project with West Virginia University College of Law to provide consumer-related information for people in West Virginia. Each school received $1 million to implement the programs. The Joint Consumer Assistance Project was established by lawyers involved in a consumer class action case from funds not claimed by class members.

University To Host Forum On School Safety [Education News]

Virginia Commonwealth University and state Secretary of Public Safety and Homeland Security Brian Moran are set to host a forum on school safety. The April 23 event in Richmond will focus on how officials can assess and investigate potential threats at schools. Moran will also moderate a panel about the roles of school resource officers.

Text Of 1990 Speech By The Late Barbara Bush

Barbara Bush gave the commencement address at the all-women Wellesley College in Wellesley, Massachusetts, on June 1, 1990. The speech was ranked No. 47 on a list of the top speeches of the century in 1999. The list, compiled by researchers at the University of Wisconsin and Texas A&M University, was based on a survey of scholars who ranked speeches by social and political impact and rhetorical artistry.

The workshop will be held at the university’s Career & Internship Center, located at the Seattle Campus. Topics to be covered at the workshop include planning an effective/efficient strategy for visiting a career fair.

SIU To Recruit Alumni For 'Volunteer' Adjunct Positions [Education News]

Southern Illinois University Carbondale is seeking volunteers with graduate degrees to serve as adjunct faculty. Chancellor Carlo Montemagno posted a statement Tuesday indicating the "pilot project" is being developed in collaboration with the SIU Alumni Association. Those approved wouldn't teach entire courses, but may deliver an individual lecture, lead a seminar discussion, mentor students or contribute to thesis committees.

Relativity invites tomorrow's legal professionals to apply for the 2018 Relativity Fest Student Scholarship, which provides students interested in legal technology the opportunity to attend Relativity Fest, one of the largest and most influential user conferences in the industry. Both undergraduate and graduate students from law schools and paralegal programs approved by the American Bar Association (ABA) are eligible to apply by June 15, 2018.

A 2018 national survey found that over a third of university students out of over 20,000 surveyed said they were food insecure, or had had limited or uncertain access to food in the previous 30 days. And 36 percent of those students said they were housing insecure in the last year. About three-quarters of colleges and other postsecondary schools offer some kind of help.

UMaine System Increasing Tuition By Nearly 3 Percent In Fall [Education News]

Tuition is going up a little less than 3 percent around the University of Maine System this coming fall. The Portland Press Herald reports tuition, fees and room and board at the system's seven campuses will go up by an average of $466, which is 2.9 percent. The numbers were presented on Wednesday to the finance committee of the system's trustees.
