The University of Texas Dallas Naveen Jindal School of Management has received a $3 million gift from North Texas real estate luminaires Donna and Herb Weitzman.
The gift will create the Herbert D. Weitzman Institute for Real Estate. Scholarships will be available for eligible undergraduate finance and administration students with a concentration on real estate. Additionally, the gift will fund student trips to case competitions and conferences while opening the door for internship opportunities.
Their goal of creating this institute is to enable students from all socioeconomic backgrounds to have the opportunities and tools needed to pursue a career in real estate. Weitzman is an alumnus of the University of Texas at Austin, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in business administration and has been monitoring the Jindal School’s development.
"This University has an excellent, highly rated business school with a diverse student population," he said. "I watched this school grow over the past decades and have seen amazing things happen.
