DETROIT (AP) — The University of Detroit Mercy has invested more than $15 million at three of its campuses this past year.

The Detroit News reports (http://detne.ws/2b8EFkk ) the private Catholic institution believes the push to update and repurpose many of its buildings — especially at the campus on McNichols Road — will help keep the school relevant and allow the university to take part in Detroit's revitalization.

The school's Vice President Arnold D'Ambrosio says the school is really "part of Detroit's fabric." The McNichols campus is in northwest Detroit.

The school has focused much of its attention on renovating health, science and engineering buildings as well as improving the look of its McNichols entrance. The University of Detroit Mercy had 4,920 undergraduate, graduate and professional students enrolled last year.
