University of Rhode Island says students safe in Paris

KINGSTON, R.I. (AP) — University of Rhode Island says its students studying abroad at universities in Paris are all safe following Friday night's deadly attacks on the city.

In a statement issued Saturday, the university said 14 students attending Parisian schools, visiting Paris from Spain or studying in other regions of France have been accounted for and are safe.

URI also reached out to nine French study-abroad students enrolled in programs in Rhode Island and offered to help them connect with family members back home.

At least 127 people died in Friday night's gun-and-bombing rampages in Paris.

Within an hour of those attacks, URI said it heard from its study-abroad partners who confirmed all the URI students were safe.
