The University of Texas at Dallas (UT Dallas) has just reached milestone qualification for the state’s Tier One Fund. It is the youngest of the three institutions in the state to achieve this status. UT Dallas is now eligible for support provided by the state’s National Research University Fund (NRUF).
Just recently UT Dallas met the benchmark criteria after two years with $45 million in annual expenses on restricted research, $400 million endowment, high-achieving freshman class, high-quality faculty, and membership in the Association of Research Libraries, Phi Beta Kappa or an equivalent national organization.
The funding from NRUF is an exclusive source of research support available for the state’s “emerging research universities.” UT Dallas has stood out as a national leader in research by generating innovative and groundbreaking discoveries that has boosted not only the North Texas region, but all of Texas.
NRUF funds will be used to support undergraduate research, equipment purchases, faculty salaries and stipends for graduate students at UT Dallas. UT Dallas joins Texas Tech University and University of Houston as NRUF institutions.
