UC Berkeley Extension Announces Global Alumni Partnership [Education News]

UC Berkeley Extension has announced that select courses in the accredited Certificate Program in Human Resource Management and in the Certificate Program in Marketing will be fully taught in Spanish to address the growing number of Spanish-speaking learners. Available completely online, these select courses will be adapted from their English-language equivalents and will begin September 2018. More courses will be added in Spring 2019.

UnitedHealthcare Donates $125,000 To Expand Programs For Families Displaced By Hurricane Maria [On A Positive News Beyond Education]

UnitedHealthcare Community Plan of Florida donated $125,000 to support Latino Leadership’s programs that help families affected by Hurricane Maria relocate from Puerto Rico to Central Florida. Just days after the hurricane, Latino Leadership and the Florida State Hispanic Chamber of Commerce established the Puerto Rico Family Response Center to provide emergency relief and referrals for housing, employment, schools and health care.

Suspect In Maryland Newspaper To Appear On 5 Murder Charges [Beyond Education]

First-degree murder charges were filed Friday against a man with a grudge against Maryland's capital newspaper after police said he shot his way into the newsroom, killing four journalists and a staffer and wounding two others. Ramos, 38, has a well-documented history of harassing the paper's journalists that began years ago after the Gazette reported about his criminal conviction in a harassment case.
