U.S. employers kept up a brisk hiring pace in June by adding 213,000 jobs in a sign of confidence despite the start of a potentially punishing trade war with China. At the same time, the unemployment rate rose to 4 percent from 3.8 percent, the government said Friday, as more people began looking for a job and not all of them found one.

Students To Pay Hundreds More Per Semester To Attend Southern University System [Education News]

Southern University System students in Louisiana will pay hundreds of dollars more a semester in the upcoming school year, to generate $4.2 million for campuses, under a package of fee hikes approved by the system governing board Thursday. Fee increases on students are rankling lawmakers, who protected Louisiana's colleges from budget cuts for the 2018-19 school year by renewing part of an expiring sales tax last month.

APNewsBreak: US Army Quietly Discharging Immigrant Recruits [Beyond Education]

Some immigrant U.S. Army reservists and recruits who enlisted in the military with a promised path to citizenship are being abruptly discharged, the Associated Press has learned. Some of the service members say they were not told why they were being discharged. Others who pressed for answers said the Army informed them they'd been labeled as security risks.

UA To Host 4 Career Fairs [Education News]

The University of Arizona is currently slated to host four job fairs this fall. Job fairs will be taking place August 22; September 10, 11, and 12; September 25; and October 30. Areas covered by the job fairs include full-time employment, as well as internships.
