SUNY Receives $5M To Support Got Your Back Program
Money To Help Victims Of Sexual Assault And Domestic Violence

The State University of New York (SUNY) just received $5 million in funding from the state Office of Victim Services expanding the SUNY’s Got Your Back program that was established in 2016, allowing the university to supply and distribute 225,000 comfort bags to victims of sexual assault and domestic violence throughout the state.

SUNY will receive funding over three years through the federal Victims of Crime Act, enabling SUNY to purchase supplies and assemble the bags with faculty, staff and students on each of their 64 campuses.

Each comfort bag contains personal essential hygiene products to assist victims with self-care, a pen, notepad, a stress ball and an affirming message from a volunteer.
