Master of Science in Industrial and Organizational Psychology to focus
on fast-growing field
CHICAGO (May 17, 2016) National Louis Universitys College of Professional Studies and Advancement (NLU) announces a new Master of Science in Industrial and Organizational Psychology program to create a pipeline of highly qualified professionals in a fast-growing field in psychology -- the application of the science of psychology to solve workplace issues and maximize productivity and employee satisfaction. The new program will be available to NLU students this coming fall term.
Industrial organizational psychology is predicted to be one of this years top 10 most in-demand jobs in Chicago, and demand for psychologists in this field is projected to grow by 53 percent during the next 10 years.
NLUs Industrial and Organizational Psychology program focuses on human behavior in work settings, and is designed specifically for the needs of adult students. NLU students will learn to contribute to effective performance and productivity in the 21st century work organization, to conduct job analyses with respect to all personnel functions, and classic and contemporary theories of leadership among other topics aligned with recommendations of the Society for Industrial Organizational Psychology.
The program has been developed specifically to meet the needs of employers and is aligned with industry best practices, said Judah Viola, Ph.D, dean of National Louis Universitys College of Professional Studies and Advancement. NLUs program is helping to meet a demand in the market for companies recognizing their employees are their most valuable assets -- and seeing the value of investing in psychologists to keep employees engaged, motivated and satisfied with their work.
Faculty practitioners and academic researchers with years of experience in the Industrial and Organizational Psychology field will teach in NLUs program. With small classes and online delivery, students will progress with the same group of peers and take coursework within their schedule. An accelerated format allows students to graduate within 20 months.
All applicants must meet NLUs general admission requirements, as well as additional requirements specific to the M.S. in Industrial and Organizational Psychology. For more details, refer to the appropriate Application Checklist available online at nl.edu/applyonline.
