Vanya Quiñones
Vanya Quiñones has been appointed president of California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, and will assume office on July 1, 2026. Quiñones has served as president of Cal State Monterey Bay since 2022. Prior to joining CSU, Dr. Quiñones was provost and executive vice president for Academic Affairs at Pace University in New York. For 21 years at the City University of New York (CUNY) - Hunter College, she served as an assistant, associate, and full professor in the Department of Psychology before being appointed as its chair. She was later promoted to the role of associate provost for Student Success and Retention. Quiñones earned a Bachelor of Science in biology and a Master of Science in cell biology from the University of Puerto Rico, and a doctorate in neurobiology and physiology from Rutgers University.
J. Michael Haynie
Dr. J. Michael Haynie has been selected to serve as the 13th chancellor and president of Syracuse University (SU), effective May 11, 2026. He currently serves as vice chancellor for Strategic Initiatives and Innovation and executive dean of the Martin J. Whitman School of Management. He is also the founder and executive director of Syracuse University’s D’Aniello Institute for Veterans and Military Families. Before embarking on his academic career, he served for 14 years as a commissioned officer in the United States Air Force. Dr. Michael earned his Ph.D. in entrepreneurship and business strategy from the University of Colorado Boulder, his MBA from the University of Oregon, and his Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of Delaware.
Ravi V. Bellamkonda
Ravi V. Bellamkonda has been appointed the 18th president of The Ohio State University. Bellamkonda joined Ohio State in January 2025 to serve as executive vice president and provost. Prior to Ohio State, he served as the provost and executive vice president for academic affairs at Emory University. Before becoming Emory’s provost, Bellamkonda served as the Vinik Dean at Duke University’s Pratt School of Engineering. Previously, he was the Wallace H. Coulter Professor and chair of the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Georgia Institute of Technology and Emory University, and he also served as associate vice president for research at Georgia Tech. He earned his Ph.D. degree in Bioengineering and Neuroscience at Brown University.
Wynn Goering
Wynn Goering, current chair of the Bethel College Board of Directors, will assume as interim president on July 1, 2026. He served as Bethel’s chief academic officer from 1991-97, before beginning a two-decade career at the University of New Mexico in a variety of executive roles. These included tenures as special assistant to the president, vice provost for Academic Affairs, and interim appointments as vice president for advancement and chief executive at UNM’s campuses in Taos, Gallup, Los Alamos, and Rio Rancho. Goering, a 1977 graduate of Bethel, holds M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in English language and literature from the University of Chicago and an M.B.A. from the University of New Mexico.
