Suzanne Dworak-Peck has donated $60 million to endow and name the USC Suzanne Dworak-Peck School of Social Work. The gift is one of the largest contributions from an individual to a school of its kind. The USC Suzanne Dworak-Peck School of Social Work educates one of every 20 master’s level social workers in the U.S. and has an alumni network of 15,000.

Endicott College officially dedicated Peter Frates Hall after the man who co-founded the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge during a ceremony held Tuesday on the school's campus in Beverly. Frates, a former Boston College baseball team captain, was diagnosed with amytrophic lateral sclerosis in 2012 at the age of 27. and has been busy raising awareness of the disease through the Ice Bucket Challenge.
Only a quarter of Americans can name all three branches of government, the poorest showing on that question in a half-dozen years, a new survey conducted by the Annenberg Public Policy Center (APPC) of the University of Pennsylvania has found. The survey also shows that nearly a third of Americans cannot name any of the three branches of government.
U.S. News & World Report, lists Cal State Fullerton as a top “national university” in rakings released today. This change was based largely on the university’s recent elevation to an “R-3” (research) status by the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education, in recognition of Cal State Fullerton’s evolution from a master’s-level comprehensive institution to one that awards doctorates.
Purdue University says it has set an enrollment record with more than 40,000 students at its main campus in West Lafayette. Purdue officials say 40,451 students arrived on campus, up 1,042 from last year. The school says this year's freshman class is larger than projected because more students took up Purdue's acceptance offers than anticipated.
The United States Patent and Trademark Office issued a record 53 patents in the 2015-16 fiscal year to the Indiana University Research and Technology Corp., which protects, markets and licenses intellectual property developed at Indiana University so it can be commercialized by industry. The 53 issued U.S. patents in 2015-16 represent a 29 percent increase over the previous year's 41.
Starting in September, Kean University’s Green Lane Academic building will house a model dorm room in one of its gallery spaces. Designed by Kean architecture and design students, utilizing IKEA products and styling, the space is designed to inspire and promote sustainable solutions for small space living.
The University of Connecticut is planning a new graduate program designed to prepare students to become genetic counselors who interpret the results of a genetic test and advise patients about potential health risks and ways to mitigate those risks.The program is being funded by a grant of more than $300,000 from the University.

Mountain View College students Emmanuel Ayorinde and JaMein Mason won an “Award of Recognition” for their work during a summer internship at Los Alamos National Laboratory. They were the first community college students to receive the honor in LANL’s history. The two students worked on a drone that uses a hammer to tap bridges to test their structural quality.
Arizona State University officials say its Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law has its largest class ever with 400 students. They say Juris Doctor candidates comprise 230 of the students with various master's-level programs accounting for the rest. The candidates come from 97 undergraduate universities, 39 states and four countries.
