Stephen Hillenburg, the creator of the Nickelodeon cartoon series “SpongeBob Squarepants” and an alumnus of Humboldt State University, and his wife Karen have gifted $135,000 to HSU to support marine sciences research, including student research projects in oceanography, marine fisheries and marine biology.

The City University of New York (CUNY) is being awarded a five-year, $3.97 million Louis Stokes STEM Pathways and Research Alliance Implementation Project grant from the National Science Foundation. Southwest Key Programs also alleges that the city incorrectly designated the shelter as a detention facility as opposed to a residential facility.

Duke, UNC Collecting Donations For Hurricane Florence Relief

The University of North Carolina and Duke University have begun collecting donations to aid those impacted by Hurricane Florence. Requested items for donation include cleaning supplies, water and nonperishable food. Donations can be brought to designated gates at Wallace Wade Stadium or the ticket office at Duke.
