UU. y no alcanzarán la equidad salarial hasta el año 2206, según un informe del Instituto de Investigación sobre Políticas para la Mujer (Institute for Women’s Policy Research). En promedio, ganan $28,911 menos por año que los hombres blancos. La educación es la clave para superar esta brecha.

UCF Extends In-State Tuition To Students From Puerto Rico

The University of Central Florida’s trustees voted to waive out-of-state fees for students from Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands who came to the school after Hurricane Maria. This in-state tuition offer has been extended through 2023. Students must remain enrolled continuously in order to quality.

Seattle Mariners' Felix Hernandez Becomes US Citizen

Seattle Mariners’ pitcher Felix Hernandez was among 74 people who became naturalized U.S. citizens at a ceremony on Monday. Originally from Venezuela, Hernandez said the strife in Venezuela is one of the reasons he became a U.S. citizen and that he would like to bring his parents to the United States.

West Virginia State University Student Receives National Leadership Award

INSTITUTE, W.Va. -- West Virginia State University (WVSU) senior Edgar Lopez-Torres was one of 15 undergraduate students in the world to receive the 2018 Student Leadership Award from the American Chemical Society (ACS). The program recognizes emerging leaders in the ACS student chapter network and helps them prepare for leadership opportunities at volunteer organizations and in their professional career.

The two individuals selected for this year’s Hall of Champions are the late Dr. Sister Elizabeth Anne Sueltenfuss, former president of Our Lady of the Lake University, and Dr. J. Michael Ortiz, president emeritus of California State Polytechnic University at Pomona (Cal State Pomona).

Cuomo Expands Puerto Rico Recovery, Rebuilding Initiative

Governor Andrew M. Cuomo is expanding the highly successful New York stands with Puerto Rico Recovery and Rebuilding Initiative. They will be deploying 500 more SUNY and CUNY student volunteers and launching a new disaster mental health initiative. SUNY and CUNY volunteers will be cleaning, repairing and restoring damaged homes.

As Venezuelans Go Hungry, Trump Targets Food Corruption

The Trump administration has pressured the president of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro, regarding widespread starvation in Venezuela. In closed door meetings U.S. Treasury Department officials have distributed a list of companies that are suspected to be shell companies that they believe senior Venezuelan officials have used to siphon off millions of dollars from food import contracts.
