Actresses Eva Longoria, America Ferrera, Rosario Dawson, Gina Rodriguez and Zoe Saldana visited Little Havana on Sunday to encourage people to vote in tomorrow’s midterm elections. "This cause of getting people out to vote is one of the most important things we can do as citizens," Longoria told the Associated Press.

ACLU Sues Dodge City Over Voting Access For Hispanics

The ACLU is suing Dodge City in Kansas for moving the only polling site in the city to outside the city limits. According to the lawsuit, this will make it more difficult for the majority of the city’s Hispanic population to vote because of issues with work schedule flexibility and access to transportation.

Selenis Leyva, best known for role on "Orange is the New Black," visited William Paterson University in New Jersey for the opening of William Paterson University’s 2018 LatinX Heritage Celebration. A report by the nonpartisan Government Accountability Office has found that federal immigration and health officials were blindsided by President Trump’s “zero tolerance” policy regarding migrants crossing the U.S.-Mexico border. Willa Weakens To Tropical Depression, Still Brings Rain

Hurricane Willa, which recently slammed into Mexico’s Pacific coast and hit farms, beach towns and fishing villages as a Category 3 storm, has weakened to a tropical depression. Despite weakening, Willa continues to dump torrential rains specifically over west-central Mexico.

Eligible Hispanics Voting In Midterms Reach Record High

Eligible Hispanics voting in November’s midterm elections have reached a record high of more than 29 million. Making them 12.8 percent of all eligible voters. Hispanics have set new records in both the number of people and the percentage. This is a critical time as the Democrats are vying to gain control of one or more chambers of Congress.

More than 60 leaders of higher education and Latino advocacy organizations have endorsed The Seal of Excelencia, a major national initiative announced by Excelencia in Education aimed at significantly increasing the number of Latino students attaining college degrees by 2030.

'Extremely Dangerous' Hurricane Willa Aims For Mexico's West

Hurricane Willa, a near-Category 5 storm is on a path to smash into Mexico’s western coast by Wednesday. In addition, the U.S. National Hurricane Center predicted that the hurricane could become a Category 5 storm later Monday and could generate life-threatening surf and rip tide conditions.

The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) have teamed up with the Ford Motor Company to create the “Ford College Community College.” The grant is specifically made for students that are attending HACU-member Hispanic-Serving Institutions to collaborate with a non-profit to design a proposal that will address the local needs of improving people’s lives
