As 2024 ends, we would like to take a moment to honor and celebrate U.S. college and university Hispanic presidents featured this year. We congratulate them for their achievements, which mark significant milestones in leadership and recognition of diversity in higher education. These real trailblazers inspire the next generation and play a crucial role in a growing inclusive academic community.
As we approach the year’s final month, December invites us to reflect on the past and look forward to what lies ahead.
Hispanic voters were pivotal in the 2024 U.S. presidential election, driving Donald Trump’s victory with historic Republican support. Economic concerns, immigration, and cultural divides shaped their shift, with Hispanic-American middle-class men playing a decisive role in changing party dynamics.
Mount Saint Mary College equips first-generation students like Patricia Sanchez and Ashley Leonor for success through financial aid, scholarships, and campus support, leading to high employment rates, strong graduate school placements, and significant long-term returns on investment for graduates.

Despite improved global literacy, Hispanic families, especially recent immigrants, face barriers to children’s education due to low income and limited English proficiency. Early literacy support in English and native languages, along with economic assistance, could help close the educational gap for Hispanic children.
