Hispanic Community August 2018 Little Damage Reported From Strong Quake In Venezuela A 7.3 earthquake hit Venezuela’s northeastern coast and parts of the Caribbean on Tuesday, the largest to strike Venezuela since 1900. However, despite the magnitude of the quake, it caused little major damage, and so far no deaths have been reported.
Financing August 2018 Federal Government Awards $2.5M To 3 Kentucky Colleges Hazard Community and Technical College, Southeast Kentucky Community and Technical College, and Big Sandy Community and Technical College are being awarded $2.5 million in grants from the federal government. The three community colleges are planning to train a workforce for advanced manufacturing employers, and the project is expected to create 261 jobs.
Financing August 2018 Illinois To Offer New Merit-Based College Scholarships Illinois is taking a new approach to encourage high school students to attend in-state universities and colleges. By creating a new merit-based scholarship specifically for high school graduates, the state hopes to improve undergraduate enrollment at public universities, which fell more than 8 percent between 2011 and 2016.
Legal August 2018 Trump's Former Lawyer Pleads Guilty, Implicates President President Donald Trump’s onetime campaign chairman, Paul Manafort, and the president’s former attorney, Michael Cohen, both found themselves in legal jeopardy yesterday, and Trump may be next. Manafort was convicted of financial crimes on Monday. Cohen has pled guilty to campaign finance violations and has implicated Trump in a campaign cover-up.
