CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) — West Virginia health officials have awarded nearly $100,000 in funding for college campus support services for adults who are recovering from substance abuse.
The Department of Health and Human Resources announced the funding Tuesday to expand the statewide resource capacity through collegiate recovery programs.
The DHHR's Office of Drug Control Policy says $20,000 grants apiece will be awarded to the research corporations at Marshall and West Virginia universities and to West Virginia State and Fairmont State universities. A grant of about $18,400 will be given to Bridge Valley Community and Technical College.
Office interim director Susie Mullens says the funding will ultimately help students follow their educational goals with the benefit of a recovery community on campus.
