Four Years Of Free Tuition For 193 Students

One Year Of Free Room And Board

KENT, Ohio (AP) — Kent State University is partnering with the LeBron James Family Foundation to provide four years of free tuition to nearly 200 Ohio students.

Free tuition and one year of free room and board will be available to 193 students in the oldest class at James' I PROMISE School in Akron, the school said in a statement last week.

The students are currently high school juniors and will be college freshmen in the 2021-22 academic year. To be eligible, the students must be successfully admitted to the university, fill out required financial aid forms and complete a required number of community service hours each semester.

The university will cover the tuition costs that remain after the students receive funds from traditional financial aid sources.

"We are so thankful to the entire Kent State family for believing in our students and providing exactly the type of programming and support they need to be successful not only in school, but in life," said Michele Campbell, executive director of the LeBron James Family Foundation.
