NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. (AP) — Hundreds of students and community members have gathered at Rutgers University to protest President Donald Trump's executive order restricting travel from seven majority-Muslim countries.
Organizers of the rally staged Tuesday afternoon in New Brunswick called on Rutgers president Robert Barchi to publicly condemn the executive order Trump issued Friday. They also want him to reaffirm Rutgers' status as a "sanctuary school" and offer legal assistance for students unable to re-enter the country.
The march also drew some Trump supporters who waved large American flags and argued with some rally participants.
Officials said the march was peaceful and no arrests were reported.
