At H.O. we congratulate new education leaders that have embarked on the challenging but very rewarding journey of education leadership.

O. John Maduko
Dr. O. John Maduko was appointed interim chancellor of the Connecticut State Colleges and Universities (CSCU) system on June 26, 2025, and assumed the role on July 1, 2025. Dr. Maduko previously served as the inaugural president of Connecticut State Community College (CT State), the largest community college in New England. Prior to his appointment at CT State, he was the vice president for academic and student affairs at Minnesota State Community and Technical College. He is a fellow of the Aspen Institute and the Thomas Lakin Institute. He earned his M.D. in allopathic medicine from St. Matthew's University School of Medicine and a bachelor's degree in biology from California State Polytechnic University. 

 

 

Aileen Anderson
The University of California, Irvine (UC Irvine) has named Aileen Anderson, an internationally recognized neuroscientist, as vice chancellor for research. A founding faculty member of UC Irvine´s Sue & Bill Gross Stem Cell Research Center, Anderson currently serves as its director. She has also played a key role in the development of UC Irvine’s Good Manufacturing Practice facility and the CIRM Alpha Clinic for Cell and Gene Therapy. In addition to her administrative leadership, Anderson is a professor of physical medicine and rehabilitation, anatomy and neurobiology, and neurosurgery. She earned a Ph.D. at UC Irvine in 1995 and joined its faculty in 2001.

 

 

Chris Manriquez
Cal State Fullerton has named Chris Manriquez as its new vice president for information technology and chief information officer, effective August 1, 2025. Manriquez brings more than 25 years of experience in higher education technology leadership, including 16 years previously at CSUF, where he held roles such as associate vice president for information technology and acting chief information technology officer. Since 2012, he has served as vice president for information technology and chief information officer at California State University, Dominguez Hills. A first-generation college graduate, Manriquez earned both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in geography from Cal State Fullerton, where he focused on geographic information systems.
