Princeton University’s Department of Public Safety Communication Center is one of the first in the nation to deploy a new 911 technology.
The new technology allows the capability to have pinpoint-accurate 911 mobile data when Apple introduces its new iPhone later this year. Princeton will be able to access the data for 911 mobile calls made within their jurisdiction.
The Communication Center is the first in New Jersey to deploy this technology and will be part of only a select few early adopters nationwide. This 911 location service will be working later this year alongside the rollout of the next generation of Apple’s operating system.
Since 80 percent of all 911 calls nationwide are placed from mobile devices, the new 911 technology is designed to improve out of date emergency call centers.
