Rutgers Alumnus Richard N. Weeks has made the largest scholarship gift to the university ever. Weeks who graduated Rutgers in 1950 has committed $10 million to support undergraduate scholarships at the Rutgers School of Engineering helping them to pursue careers in the profession.
Legal representation for Michigan college Democrats have dropped their bid that challenges voting rules prior to the upcoming election. Young Democrats are still challenging the law that requires that if a person registers by mail, then they have to vote in person for their first election.

Hurricane Willa, a near-Category 5 storm is on a path to smash into Mexico’s western coast by Wednesday. In addition, the U.S. National Hurricane Center predicted that the hurricane could become a Category 5 storm later Monday and could generate life-threatening surf and rip tide conditions.

Murray State University is offering tuition discounts for military students who are pursuing either an undergraduate degree or a graduate degree. The university is providing free textbooks, waving course fees and matching remaining tuition costs that are not covered by the U.S. Department of Defense Military Tuition Assistance Program.
Rutgers University will serve as New Jersey’s Center on Gun Violence Research. The new initiative focuses on the university’s expertise in public health, criminal justice and other fields that deal with the nationwide problem. New Jersey will now have their own research center that will fill in the knowledge gap between the federal government’s inaction and the obstruction from the gun industry.
The ACLU is suing Dodge City in Kansas for moving the only polling site in the city to outside the city limits. According to the lawsuit, this will make it more difficult for the majority of the city’s Hispanic population to vote because of issues with work schedule flexibility and access to transportation.
Robert Gregory Bowers is due in federal court today. Bowers is the suspected gunman in a shooting at the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh, which resulted in 11 deaths. Survivors of the attack are giving firsthand accounts of the shooting.
Feeding Area Children Together, a parent-led group, has distributed more than 23,000 meal packs to St. Cloud-area children in a little more than a year. U.S. employers have added 250,000 jobs during the month of October, according to a recent economic report. U.S. employers have also raised average pay by the most in almost a decade, and the unemployment rate remains at 3.7 percent, a five-decade low.
