Couple Pledge $1M To Cancer Research At University

The University of Toledo is going to be expanding its pancreatic cancer research thanks to a $1 million gift from, Hal and Susan Fetterman, a couple from Ohio. The money is setting up the UTMC Pancreatic Cancer Research Innovation Fund and honors Hal Fetterman's sister, Joyce Schwyn, and three friends all of whom died from pancreatic cancer.

A caravan of migrants from Honduras bedding down in the town of Equipulas, Guatemala. The group is estimated to be 1,600 to 2,000 people who are fleeing violence and poverty in Honduras. President Trump has threatened to cut aid to Honduras if it doesn't stop the impromptu caravan of migrants.

North Carolina Lawmakers Approve $400M In Florence Spending

North Carolina lawmakers have approved spending $400 million to aid communities and people impacted by Hurricane Florence. An additional $450 million is being set aside for upcoming needs. Moneys include $95 million for public schools, universities and community colleges. About $7 million will help college and university students remain enrolled.

Montclair State University has created an innovative new program with New Jersey community colleges. The 2+2 program allows students from Bergen Community College, Brookdale Community College, County College of Morris, Hudson County Community College, Passaic County Community College and Union County College to transfer to Montclair State University.
