Purdue U Tracking Down 26K Student Applicants Amid Data Breach [Education News]

Purdue University is tracking down more than 26,000 prospective students to alert them that their names, birthdays, and Social Security numbers were inadvertently sent to the parent of one student applicant. Purdue Assistant Legal Counsel Trent Klingerman said Thursday that an employee with Purdue's Division of Financial Aid inadvertently sent one prospective student's parent a list of data on the applicants on May 17.

Tuition To Increase For In-State Students At 14 Pennsylvania Universities [Education News]

Tuition for in-state students at Pennsylvania's 14 state-owned universities will rise by 3 percent. The Board of Governors of Pennsylvania's State System of Higher Education on Thursday voted to approve the $224 increase for the 2018-19 school year. The system says tuition will rise from $7,492 to $7,716 for most full-time Pennsylvania residents, who account for nearly 90 percent of the system's students.

Trustees OK $1.7M For University Of Arkansas Medical Campus [Education News]

University of Arkansas trustees have approved a $1.7 million renovation at the school's medical campus in Fayetteville. Trustees on Monday unanimously approved the renovations to support classrooms and lab space for students in a new occupational therapy program, the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reported. The three-year, clinical doctorate program expects to enroll its first students in 2020, said Program Director Sherry Muir.

Rutgers To Increase Tuition By 2.3 Percent [Education News]

Rutgers University has approved a tuition increase for the upcoming school year. The university's board of governors voted Wednesday to raise tuition and fees by 2.3 percent, or about $337. This increase means the average in-state undergraduate student at its New Brunswick campus will pay about $27,681 for the upcoming school year.
