Nearly 6 in 10 Hispanic adults have had a difficult time communicating with a health care provider because of a language or cultural barrier, and when they do they often turn to outside sources for help, according to a new study conducted by The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research.

Visas are hard to come by, especially for immigrants struggling with poverty and joblessness in Central America. The other main option for legal immigration — getting a family member who is an American citizen or green card holder to sponsor them — can take more than a decade.

President Donald Trump says he is consulting with the National Rifle Association over whether it makes sense for a Texas company to publish downloadable blueprints for a 3D-printed gun. All Survive Crash Of Mexican Jetliner, Some Walk From Wreck [Beyond Education]

An Aeromexico jetliner taking off in a blustery storm smashed down into a nearby field but skidded to a stop virtually intact, and all 103 people aboard were able to escape advancing flames before fire engulfed the aircraft. Passengers expressed gratitude to be alive, but many were extremely shaken after the crash Tuesday afternoon.

Immigrants Held In US Prison Sue Over Harsh Conditions [Beyond Education]

Immigrants sued the U.S. government Wednesday over conditions at a federal prison in California used to house detainees since the Trump administration sought to toughen enforcement on the U.S.-Mexico border. The lawsuit filed in federal court in Riverside says harsh prison conditions at a medium-security facility in Victorville, California, are too restrictive for detainees awaiting their immigration court hearings, many who are seeking asylum.

University Of Wyoming Gets Private Gift For STEM Programs [On A Positive Note In Education]

The University of Wyoming has received a $2.5 million gift to support its science, technology, engineering and mathematics programs. The university says the money from alumnus David D. Le Norman will be matched by the state for a total of $5 million. Le Norman is founder of Le Norman Energy and a number of other successful companies.
