NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Tulane University has won a $10 million grant to study school reform across the country.

The New Orleans Advocate reports the U.S. Department of Education's Institute of Education Sciences awarded the five-year grant.

It will pay for research on how voucher programs, charter schools and other choice programs in cities can help disadvantaged students.

Tulane researchers are teaming up with experts at Syracuse, the University of Southern California and Michigan State University to form a new Tulane-based organization called the National Center for Research on Education Access and Choice.

The center will study school transportation, enrollment, marketing, oversight and teacher supply in New Orleans and around Louisiana, as well as in Michigan, Florida, Oregon, Denver, New York City and Washington, D.C.
