US Unemployment Rate Falls To 49-Year Low Of 3.7 Percent

The U.S. unemployment rate has fallen to a 49-year low in September. The Labor Department says hiring is slow with employers adding just 134,000 jobs, which is the fewest in a year, however, it is likely that Hurricane Florence lowered that figure.

Students and faculty from the University of Vermont are demonstrating against Judge Brett Kavanaugh’s nomination to the U.S. Supreme Court. The students held a walk-out on Thursday, and abortion is a key issue with Kavanaugh seen as the deciding vote regarding the future of access to abortion.

Poll: Young Americans Say Online Bullying A Serious Problem

A new poll shows that young adults and teens say cyberbullying is a serious problem, however, at the same time, they do not think they will be the ones targeted for digital abuse. The poll, which is from The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research and MTV, found parents and young people see social as having for the most part a negative effect on the younger generation.

DeVos To Miss Deadline In Easing College Fraud Protections

Although the Education Department had been ready to issue its new regulations by the beginning of November, students that have been defrauded by for-profit colleges are getting a reprieve from the department’s push to ease regulations on those schools. This reason? The government has said that it would miss releasing an updated rule on loan forgiveness on deadline.

BFIT And Prime Motor Group Announce Prime Scholars Program

Benjamin Franklin Institute of Technology and Prime Motor Group have established the Prime Scholars program. As many as 15 students will work directly with the company part-time as they pursue their degrees, receive $5,000 scholarships from Prime Motor Group, and develop the skills necessary to secure jobs with Prime Motor Group upon graduation.
