UMaine Foundation Had Record Fundraising Year In 2018

The University of Maine Foundation has had a record fundraising year, receiving pledges and gifts totally $36.9 million, which is a 115 percent increase from the previous year. The fundraising brought the foundation’s "Vision for Tomorrow" drive to above $160 million.

U Of New Hampshire Creates 4-H Scholarships

Starting in the fall of 2019, students at the University of New Hampshire will receive $500 scholarships for each year of active participation in 4-H programs. Under this new scholarship program students can earn a maximum annual scholarship of $5,000.

NY To Spend $10M On Security At Religious Schools, Centers

Governor Andrew Cuomo of New York has announced that $10 million in grants is available for religious centers and schools to improve their security measures. The grants can be used for a number of measures including security training, secure doors and surveillance cameras.

2019 Ezra Jack Keats Mini-Grant Program Call for Proposals

The Ezra Jack Keats Foundation is now accepting proposals from educators across the country for its mini-grant program. Approximately 70 grants are slated to be awarded to librarians and teachers. Each grant is worth up to $500. The deadline is March 31.

Murray State Offers Tuition Discounts For Military Students

Murray State University is offering tuition discounts for military students who are pursuing either an undergraduate degree or a graduate degree. The university is providing free textbooks, waving course fees and matching remaining tuition costs that are not covered by the U.S. Department of Defense Military Tuition Assistance Program.

Northern Maine University Receives Largest Gift In History

The University of Maine at Presque Isle has received the largest one-time gift in the history of the school. The $1 million gift will be used to establish the university’s first endowed chair: the Dr. Robert Vinton Akeley Chair of Agricultural Science and Agribusiness.

Ellucian Pathways Scholarship Opens For Applications

The Ellucian Pathways Scholarship is currently open for applications. The scholarship program will be awarding a total of $50,000, which will be dispersed to more than 20 students. To apply, students need to submit a two-minute video by November 28, 2018.

CUNY Receives A Record $6M In Federal Grants

The City University of New York colleges has received a record $6 million in federal grants for the schools’ Early Childhood Centers (ECCs). These grants will benefit the student-parents that rely on their services. The grant funds enable ECC to be open until 10 p.m. at Bronx Community College where 55 percent have children under five and work while taking classes.
