Juntos Abroad: Boosting Internationalization at Hispanic-Serving Institutions

It still remains a challenge to address the underrepresentation of Hispanic/Latino/Latinx students in study abroad programs, particularly at Hispanic Serving Institutions (HSIs). Some Minority Serving Institutions (MSIs) have already put in place initiatives that may help increase the Hispanic/Latino/Latinx student participation and promote inclusive global academic experiences.

Un poco de realidad

The conflict between Gaza and Israel has become a domestic issue in the United States, particularly on university campuses. The academic response does not seem to measure up the complex reality of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict as it is being oversimplified and distorted. Universities could certainly take this challenge as an opportunity to address the real humanitarian crisis while navigating the complexities of free speech, tolerance, and understanding in the context of the conflict.

Rising Number of International Students: A Boon for US Colleges

US colleges have seen an increase in international student enrollment after a decrease during the pandemic. Due to the global recognition of the US as an education destination, many choose it to pursue their higher education studies. These individuals, who face additional challenges such as financial concerns and limited work opportunities, bring diverse perspectives that benefit their institutions as well as the American students they study with.
