Northern Maine University Receives Largest Gift In History

The University of Maine at Presque Isle has received the largest one-time gift in the history of the school. The $1 million gift will be used to establish the university’s first endowed chair: the Dr. Robert Vinton Akeley Chair of Agricultural Science and Agribusiness.

Fear, sickness and police harassment are chipping away at the migrant caravan, which resumed its journey today towards the U.S.-Mexico border. The group of 4,000 to 5,000 migrants includes children and toddlers in strollers. The trek ahead of them is more than 1,000 miles before they reach the border.

Willa Weakens To Tropical Depression, Still Brings Rain

Hurricane Willa, which recently slammed into Mexico’s Pacific coast and hit farms, beach towns and fishing villages as a Category 3 storm, has weakened to a tropical depression. Despite weakening, Willa continues to dump torrential rains specifically over west-central Mexico.

Ellucian Pathways Scholarship Opens For Applications

The Ellucian Pathways Scholarship is currently open for applications. The scholarship program will be awarding a total of $50,000, which will be dispersed to more than 20 students. To apply, students need to submit a two-minute video by November 28, 2018.

The president has denied that he is using the migrant caravan to stoke fear. CUNY Receives A Record $6M In Federal Grants

The City University of New York colleges has received a record $6 million in federal grants for the schools’ Early Childhood Centers (ECCs). These grants will benefit the student-parents that rely on their services. The grant funds enable ECC to be open until 10 p.m. at Bronx Community College where 55 percent have children under five and work while taking classes.

The University of South Florida is one the top universities in the country for student veterans, according to rankings released Monday by Military Times magazine. Among all four-year public and private institutions, Military Times ranks USF as the second best school in the nation for the second consecutive year.
