Fallen Bridge: 'Stress Test' Preceded Collapse That Killed 6 [Education News]

An innovative pedestrian bridge being built at Florida International University had been put to a "stress test" and its cables were being tightened when it collapsed over traffic, killing six people and sending 10 to a hospital, authorities said. Two workers were on the 950-ton bridge when it pancaked on top of vehicles waiting at a stoplight.

Pedestrian Bridge Collapses At University; Several Hurt [Education News]

A newly-installed pedestrian bridge collapsed Thursday at Florida International University, trapping at least five vehicles underneath. Live television reports showed several people loaded onto ambulances immediately after the collapse. There was no immediate report of injuries or any fatalities from authorities. The 950-ton span was installed on Saturday.

Upcoming SUNY Orange Job Fair And Tips For Attendees [Education Job News]

After the success of its 2017 job fair, which attracted close to 400 job seekers and more than 80 employers, SUNY Orange is hosting its 2018 job fair on April 12. The fair will run from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm ET and will be held at the Niddletown campus in the Physical Education Building, which is located on East Conkling Avenue.

White House Opposes Short-Term 'Dreamer' Fix In New Talks [Beyond Education]

The White House said Wednesday it does not favor an immigration agreement with Congress that would involve extending protections for young immigrants for three years in exchange for three years of border wall funding. Deputy press secretary Raj Shah said the administration continues to negotiate an immigration overhaul that would address the DACA program while also stopping illegal immigration and modernizing the legal immigration system.
