Global March 2018 Police: Report Of Shots Fired On Northwestern Campus A Hoax [Education News] A report of a gunman at a Northwestern University residence hall and shots fired was a hoax, a suburban Chicago police official said Wednesday. Evanston Police Cmdr. Ryan Glew said a call to police reporting shots fired was a "swatting" hoax. The term describes when someone calls in a false report in the hopes of prompting a SWAT team to respond.

The demonstrations extended from Maine to Hawaii as students joined the youth-led surge of activism set off by the Feb. 14 massacre at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida.

Financing March 2018 Waffle House Waitress Who Cut Food For Diner Gets $16K Scholarship From Texas Southern U In Houston [Education News] Texas Southern University in Houston awarded the $16,000 college scholarship to 18-year-old Evoni "Nini" Williams who works at a Houston-area Waffle House. Laura Wolf, a customer at the Waffle House, overheard an elderly patron, who uses oxygen, say he had trouble with his hands and couldn't cut the ham on his plate. Williams cut his food for him, and Wolf photographed her act of kindness.
Financing March 2018 $15M Donation Allows UVa Business Students To Study Abroad [Education News] A $15 million donation will enable every member of the University of Virginia's incoming class of full-time MBA students to receive paid trips abroad. The university's Darden School of Business announced that the $15 million donation from the Batten Foundation unlocked a matching gift from the university's Bicentennial Scholars Fund, creating a $30 million endowment for the new Batten Foundation Darden Worldwide Scholarship program.
