Global February 2018 Tech Apprenticeship Program Works With Amazon And Honolulu Community College To Help Military Service Members Transition Into Civilian Tech Roles [Education Job News] Apprenti™ announced that it will work with Amazon and the Pacific Center for Advanced Technology Training (PCATT) at Honolulu Community College to train and place military service members and veterans into tech positions. Apprentices receive between 14-20 weeks of certified technical training provided by PCATT at Honolulu Community College followed by full-time, paid, on-the-job training in Amazon AWS data centers.
Financing February 2018 $10M Donation To Wheaton Ties For Largest In Higher Education Institution’s History Wheaton College in Massachusetts announced Thursday that it's receiving of the largest donations in its 183-year history. The school said it received a $10 million commitment from the Diana Davis Spencer Foundation. Wheaton's previous largest gift was $10 million from the family that founded the Mars candy company, received during a fundraising campaign that ended in 2000.
Global February 2018 Coach Who Shielded Students Among Shooting Victims [Education News] A football coach who also worked as a security guard is among the dead in a school shooting that claimed 17 lives in Parkland, Florida. The football program at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School tweeted that assistant coach Aaron Feis died while selflessly shielding students. The tweet ended: "He died a hero and he will forever be in our hearts and memories."
